Overview

There are currently over 10,000 subscribers to the mailing lists at Matt's Script Archive. There are three to choose from. New-Scripts is reserved for new script announcements, updates and changes at Matt's Script Archive. Only I post to this mailing list and it receives about one to two posts per month. WWW-Scripts, along with its associated digest, is an open discussion on CGI scripts and Perl and gets anywhere from 15 - 40 posts per day. WWW Archives of all past messages to www-scripts are available.

New-Scripts

The New-Scripts mailing list is reserved for important announcements regarding Matt's Script Archive. If you use any scripts from MSA, it is suggested that you subscribe to this list. Any bug fixes, upgrades, new scripts, major Matt's Script Archiuve changes and other important news will be sent to this list. And the traffic is very low. The max number of messages is one to two per month, and often nothing is sent through on months where not much activity takes place at Matt's Script Archive.

You can subscribe to new-scripts by sending the following message to:

      Majordomo@tahoenet.com

with a line in the BODY of your message, which says:

      subscribe new-scripts

WWW-Scripts

The WWW-Scripts mailing list is a much higher traffic list than new-scripts, with about 1,000 readers. You can ask perl and CGI questions there and most will get answered, often by several people. There is also a digested version, for those who would rather receive one message per day, containing everything, rather than receive the 25 - 50 posts this list gets per day.

You can subscribe to www-scripts by sending the following message to:

      Majordomo@tahoenet.com

with a line in the BODY of your message, which says:

      subscribe www-scripts

WWW-Scripts-Digest

The WWW-Scripts-Digest list is identical to www-scripts, and receives all of the same messages, with one exception. Rather than receiving the 50 or so messages per day that www-scripts can receive, a digest version, consisting of all messages since the last digest, will be sent out every night, with a subject index at the top of the message.

You can subscribe to www-scripts-digest by sending the following message to:

      Majordomo@tahoenet.com

with a line in the BODY of your message, which says:

      subscribe www-scripts-digest

WWW Archives

If you're searching for a quick answer, or just can't afford to get that much more mail, WWW based archives are available of all past postings to these mailing lists.

The www-scripts and scripts-help mailing list archives can be found at: http://bespin.cco.net/scripts/. From there, you can both search or browser all of the articles from www-scripts and scripts-help. An archive of the www-scripts-digest list can be found at http://faq.mailweb.com/www_script_digest
